Jacket & Shirt: H&M | Skirt: Vintage | Boots: Truffle | Backpack: Primark

I wore this outfit a couple of weekends ago when I went with my family to see English National Opera's modern take on Bizet's Carmen. In short, it is a story about a gypsy girl who falls out of love almost as quickly as she falls into it. I admit, my family mainly wanted to see Carmen as my little cousin was one of the child singers in the show, so it was really exciting to see her on stage. The show was fantastic and I definitely recommend it to anyone new to the opera scene like myself. And to anyone who is afraid they won't understand any of the words, if you sit in the upper circle there are subtitles!!

The skirt I am wearing, which I apolagise for not getting any photos of,is a suede hand me down from a 90's Topshop collection I believe, and it is officially one of my favourite skirts and also quite trendy too as I think Topshop is stocking suede skirts at the moment. Despite it being well into summer in these photos, this ouitfit was quite a warm one, but you just can't be sure with British weather, so its best to wear layers and take them off through out the day I suppose!

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!

button down a line skirts

(Images: Google, Pinterest)

I'm really glad that the 60/70's are making a comeback this year because these skirts are everything. I can't even scroll through my Instagram feed without a photo of someone in their button down skirt popping up. The jealousy is real, but alas I am to poor to get one of my own, so I'll stick to scrolling through outfits on Pinterest whilst sobbing into my keyboard. I love the shape of a line skirts as I think they're really flattering and they will most definitely leave you feeling like a lil' Alexa Chung, the queen of a line skirts herself.

Things I Learned In May

After reading a writing prompts post over on Daisy Butter, I was really inspired by one of the ideas, which was to share some things you've learnt in a week/month. As I get older I am constantly changing and learning new things, so this acts not only as a post for your reading pleasure, but also as a sort of time capsule for me to look back on when I'm old and grey.

1. You don't have to care what every random person thinks of you, chances are they not that important to you anyway.

2. Washing your face every day and night with a cleanser that's right for you really does improve your skin.

3. STAY AWAY FROM FACIAL WIPES AT ALL COSTS - unless you are absolutely about-to-drop-dead tired.

4. Just because you can sleep late doesn't mean you should.

5. Doing homework 2-3 days before it's due will put your mind at rest.

6. Singing along to music you love when your down will boost your mood every time without fail.
